How to remove a ratchet strap. The strap may be wedged in there tightly, so you might have to pull pretty hard to work it free. You can do that by pulling and holding the release tab thats found on the top assembly on most ratchet straps. Close and lock the ratchet buckle while not in use.

The webbing should wrap around the ratchets axle. This will lift the manual pawl and allow you to flatten the ratchet. Raise and lower the ratchet handle to tighten the strap and wrap it around the axle.

After which, pull the handle completely flat and remove all of the loose strap or pull the loosened strap out of the ratchet. In order to release the strap from the ratchet, you must first make sure you have squeezed the manual pawl (seen below). Tighten the slack further by pumping the ratchet handle.

From the bottom up, insert the webbing strap into the ratchet buckle slot found in the center of the ratchet and thread the webbing through and back onto itself.
